RECIPE INGREDIENTS
- Toor Dal (1+ ½ cups; soak overnight or for couple of hours)
- Water (6 cups)
- Ginger (1” thinly sliced)
- Turmeric (½ teaspoon)
- Ghee (1 tablespoon)
- Cardamom (3 nos.)
- Cloves (6 nos.)
- Red Chilly whole (1 no.)
- Tomatoes (3 nos.)
- Cinnamon stick (2”)
- Faran (1 teaspoon)
- Asafoetida (1/4 teaspoon)

RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Put Toor dal with water, turmeric and ghee in a pressure cooker and give 4-5 whistles to half cook the Dal.
2. Grind together 3 large cardamom, 6 cloves, 1 Red Chilli, 3 tomatoes, 1” ginger and 2” cinnamon stick.
3. Open pressure cooker and add the above ingredients. Cook again for 2-3 whistles or till fully done. Mash some Dal with heavy ladle.
4. Takda: Heat 2 tablespoons Ghee add whole red chilli, faran, asafoetida and season the Dal. Garnish with green coriander leaves and serve with Basmati rice.
